Cooljarloo Mineral Sands

$400 million, totally integrated turnkey mineral sands project in Western Australia. This project was Australia’s first fully integrated mineral sand to pigment project.

Resource

570 million tonnes of ore containing 11.8 million tonnes of Ilmenite, 0.80 million tonnes of Rutile, 2.1 million tonnes of Zircon, and 1.8 million tonnes of Leucoxene.

Floating Dredge and Wet Plant upgrading 2,000 tonnes-per-hour of mine-run sands to 600,000 tonnes-per-annum of heavy mineral concentrate.

Dry Plant utilizing electrostatic, magnetic and gravity separation to produce 350,000 tonnes of Ilmenite, 30,000 tonnes of Rutile, 50,000 tonnes of Zircon and 8,000 tonnes of Leucoxene annually from the wet plant concentrate.

Synthetic Rutile Plant wherein Ilmenite containing 60% titanium dioxide is upgraded to 93% utilizing the improved Becher Process. Production approximates 130,000 tonnes of synthetic rutile per annum, one half of which is shipped to Kwinana as feedstock for the Pigment Plant.
